A+J Newlands Golf Course Wedding
Summer is a beautiful time of year, with warm weather, blooming flowers, and longer days filled with sunshine. It’s no surprise that summer is a popular season for weddings, with couples taking advantage of the gorgeous backdrop to tie the knot. If you’re planning a summer wedding, here are some things to consider.
The Venue
One of the most important decisions you’ll make when planning a summer wedding is the venue. Consider hosting the wedding outside, in a garden or park, or at a vineyard or farm. A beach wedding is also a popular option for summer weddings. Whatever venue you choose, make sure it’s easily accessible for your guests and has ample shade or indoor options in case of hot weather. This beautiful wedding was held at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley, British Columbia. They have a beautiful gazebo outdoors and several indoor ballrooms to choose from. This wedding reception is held in the Regency Ballroom.
The Colours
Summer is a season of beautiful colors, so embrace this in your wedding colour scheme. Consider incorporating light shades of pink, blue, purple, or green into your decorations, bridesmaids’ dresses, and floral arrangements. You can also add pops of colour to your wedding invitations, wedding favors, and table settings.
The Attire
When it comes to wedding attire, summer weddings offer plenty of options. For the bride, consider lightweight fabrics such as chiffon or lace. For the groom and groomsmen, heavy suits can be uncomfortable in the hot weather. Head to your local pharmacy and grab a few cold packs and pop them into the waist line of the back of your pants to help cool you down 🙂
The Food and Drinks
Summer is a great time for light, refreshing meals, so consider serving foods such as fresh salads, grilled chicken or fish, and fruit-based desserts. You can also incorporate seasonal fruits such as watermelon or berries into your wedding cake or dessert table. For drinks, consider serving lemonade or iced tea, and offer a signature cocktail that incorporates summer flavours such as mint or cucumber. Also, make sure there is plenty of water available to everyone 🙂
The Decorations
Summer weddings offer endless possibilities when it comes to decorations. Consider incorporating elements such as lanterns, twinkling lights, or floral garlands into your wedding decor. You can also use natural elements such as driftwood for a beach-themed wedding, or use wildflowers or herbs for a rustic, outdoor wedding.
In conclusion, a summer wedding can be a magical and memorable experience for both you and your guests. By choosing the right venue, colours, attire, food and drinks, and decorations, you can create a beautiful and unforgettable wedding that celebrates the beauty and warmth of the season.
We started the day off at The Princess and the Pea Hotel in Langley, British Columbia. They offer an absolutely beautiful space with room for both sides of the wedding party to get ready in without seeing one another. I love the beautiful bridal suite above the garage. There are also some perfect spots around the grounds for a few photos 🙂
